City of the Dead

The dead of Sharn are often cremated these days, but in the city’s youth they were more commonly entombed in mausoleums and crypts in the City of the Dead, high on the cliffs surrounding the city. Beyond the manifest zone which allows the heights of Sharn, the buildings of this area seem almost absurdly squat by comparison, even when the mausoleums are several stories tall.

Fortunately, the humid climate of the region leads to rapid plant growth, so much of the area has been covered by vegetation, sparing the residents of the City the view.

  • Dragon Crypts: A necropolis housing silent tombs amid the rocky crags of the cliff top. It also holds Warden Tower, a white obelisk home to a long line of hermit clerics of The Silver Flame.
  • Halden’s Tomb: A necropolis overlooking Tavick’s Landing on the eastern edge of the city, named for an incredibly ancient mausoleum to Gareth Halden, a great hero of the War of the Mark.
