Acererak destroyed! The tomb collapsed!
Alas, Arererak’s final curse befell you and you are never cured of the Mummy’s rot. Even the God’s cure only relieves the symptoms for a short time before you succumb once more. Only the bitter tea the cultists make from one of the swamp weeds soothes your pain and eases your mind. Your life is long enough, though sickly, and you never again leave the necromancer’s village, lest you spread your disease to the village beyond.
Still, they are good neighbors and appreciative of your freeing them from Acererak’s dominion. They turn to studying the effects of the ecology and magical residue left behind, providing to your comfort and needs as best they are capable.
Time passes and mortals die.
Acererak’s curse endures.
Even though it’s machinery was damaged by your efforts, some secret power yet remained to rebuild.
And so a new generation of heroes emerge – lured by the songs of those who came before them. They hope to follow in the footsteps of the heroes of legend, and armed with new resources and recovered lore, they step forward to challenge Acererak once more.
But which heroes are these?
